7D.8.1 Media Types
The host is required to have the capability of playing recorded CDs. Other media types may also be supported, at the host’s discretion. The Artistic Director is responsible for announcing what media types will be supported, and making sure the necessary equipment is provided.
I think it's time to stop requiring CD players. We now have a good system for uploading music online and that is much simpler and allows for fewer errors. I think it would be best to just keep the last sentence of this rule.

I think that it would be better for players to bring a CD as a spare for the purpose of avoiding troubles.

I don't know how it will be handeld at the Unicon but in Germany they only listen to the Start of the Music and the quality when you send it online. So we had the problem one Time that the Music was broke in the middle. Therefor a safety USB Stick from the rider was neseccery.
So I Would say the riders should have the opportunity to bring an USB Stick with there Music.

There is also this rule that talks about music:
7B.8.2.4 Music Preparation
In Artistic Freestyle events, music is included in the judging and competitors should use it. It is recommended to have one or more backup copies of all music in case of loss or damage. For recordable disks, competitors are also recommended to test their music on multiple players to make sure it will work at competition time.
Competitors must provide their music in a type that is supported, and has been announced by the Artistic Director. All music must be clearly labeled with the competitor name(s), age group or category, event type (such as Pairs), and if needed, the track number. Whenever possible, competition music should be the first track on the CD. The DJ (music operator) is not responsible for any errors resulting from unsupported types or mislabeled tracks.
There is a bit of repetition between these two rules because of the reorganization of the rulebook. I think maybe we should require a backup of the music instead of it just being a recommendation. But I think that we don't need to have a CD player required. It is clear that the media type used for the competition must be announced. This gives the competitions organizers more control over what is used.

I would like that we updated the rule so that a backup is riquired instead of a recommendation, I dont know about the media type though, prior to an event of anny kind there is a lot of infomation to the riders and half of it is not being read by a annyone.
Therefore, to me its fine to say that the backup should be on a flashdrive but I think to avoid confusion its important that it is stated in the rulebook which media type is should be made on.

Also i would like if UDA had somekind of a feature that allowed the rider to pre-play the music online emidiatly after uplading it. That would allow the rider to detect any errors there might have been during the upload.

Lasse, UDA requests can be made here. (An account is required, but free. Click on 'new issue'.)

What about this? I combined the two rules and got rid of the text requiring CD players. It now requires a backup copy. If the competition would still like to use CD players that would be allowed with the way the text is worded.

Thank you Scott!
I agree with the new wording of the text
